flint splinter

In Indre-et-Loire at La Roche-Cotard, in a Mousterian level with Acheulian tradition, a block of flint was discovered in which a long bone splinter was found wedged into to interconnecting natural holes. Without being able to assent it is a naturalistic representation, it is nevertheless more than a simple freak of nature because it seems that is was quickly fashioned and the splinter was deliberately inserted into the hole.
